2 Corinthians 10:5- We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

It is safe to say that believing you can reach your financial goals is more important than knowing what to do to reach your goals.

You can always point to a circumstance as proof of why financial freedom is not in the cards for you.

It takes time and practice learning to recognize the defeating thoughts that come up and rejecting them for the lies that they are.

If you are starting out with thousands of dollars in debt and/or a limited income, it will take you longer to achieve some larger financial goals.

This does not mean you will never achieve those goals.

While you are putting in the hard work to change your habits, here are a few places to put your focus when your thoughts attempt to railroad your success:

Spend time with God.

God is always close to you, listening for you to reach out to Him. When negative thoughts creep in, practice submitting those thoughts over to Him. Ask Him to give you peace and assurance that you are on the right path. Just by spending more time learning about His character and wisdom, you will be drawing closer to your Provider instead of being overly concerned about provision.

Express gratitude for today’s blessings.

The days with your little ones are flying by! Do not let present financial uncertainties rob you of the energy you could use to be an active participant in their lives. Go for a walk with them when you feel stressed. Take a moment to be present and recap what you were able to enjoy so far that day. Improving your finances is important but that is only a fraction of how you experience the world around you.

Acknowledge your progress.

Having a negative thought does not make you a failure. As long as you continue to make positive steps forward, you will see some progress at the appointed time. Recall a time where you were not as far along as you are now and give yourself a pat on the back. Every small step is a win and should be treated as such.

Focus on your vision.

You have been given a vision of a better financial future for you and your family. Use vision boards, journals, or scrapbooking to keep that vision in front of you. Let these illustrations inspire you to remain faithful through all the ups and downs. You will look back further into your journey and you will have documented a beautiful testimony.

It is possible to not be controlled by negative thought patterns on your financial journey. It is impossible to stop the negative thoughts from coming up. However, as a woman of faith, you are able to exercise self-control and reject worrying at its onset and continue to thrive.
